Since the 2018-19 campaign, including this weekend's encounter, Sunday will mark the eighth edition of the October El Clasico following the Champions League group stage. When it comes to the gap between the Champions League and the league, Real Madrid has enjoyed a cumulative 26-day break, while Barcelona has had just 23 days. This does not yet account for the 2019-20 El Clasico, which was postponed due to political unrest in Catalonia stemming from the "process of independence," sparking security concerns. Originally, the Catalan side was scheduled to play against Slavia Prague at 21:00 on a Wednesday evening, followed by a home match against Real Madrid at 13:00 on Saturday afternoon at the Nou Camp. In contrast, the Merengues were set to face Galatasaray in Istanbul at 21:00 on a Tuesday evening.
