Shapiro Michael remarked, "During the previous season, the Rockets frequently found themselves compelled to cast Josh Okogie as the fifth starter. This by no means reflects a lack of respect for Okogie; in fact, he performed admirably last season. However, it underscores the fact that the team's bench strength was not as robust as it could have been when he was required to take on that role. This was particularly evident during the series against the Lakers, where the Rockets' lack of depth was laid bare following Kevin Durant's absence."
